Australia Travel Blog – Camping, Road Trips & Honest Reviews
Hi, I’m Bryony – the voice behind Somewhere After the Detour.
Somewhere in my twenties, city breaks turned into backpacking Southeast Asia, which turned into calling Australia home. That’s the short version.
The longer version: I spent over a year in Perth before landing in Melbourne, where I’m now based full time, juggling work and weekends away. Somewhere along the way road tripping and camping Australia became less of a hobby and more of a lifestyle. These days you’ll find me and my boyfriend in a 4WD chasing off-grid forest camps, coastal drives, and everything in between – with the occasional overseas trip thrown in when the itch gets too strong.
I travel budget-friendly with the odd treat, because seeing more shouldn’t mean missing out on the good stuff. I’m also mostly vegetarian and gluten-free, so I know the struggle of finding a decent feed in the middle of nowhere.
Whether you’re planning an Australia road trip, hunting for the best camping spots, or just want honest tips from someone who’s actually done it, you’re in the right place.
So let’s get into it…
